Know who scans, where and when
Every dynamic code and Smart Link comes with analytics. No setup, no cookies on the people who scan.
What you get
Trends
Scans per day over 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, 12 months or any range, total or unique.
Places
Continent, country, region and city, plus a world map.
Devices
Device type, operating system, browser and language.
Campaigns
Reports by UTM source, medium and campaign, and by referring site.
Compare
Put two to four codes side by side to see which poster or channel works.
Share and export
Send a read-only stats page to a client, or export every scan as CSV.
How it works
- 1
Create a dynamic code or Smart Link.
- 2
Print or share it as usual.
- 3
Open Analytics to see scans arrive, by code or for all codes together.
How QR code tracking works
Only dynamic codes can be tracked. When someone scans one, their phone opens the short link, the scan is recorded, and the visitor is forwarded to your page within a fraction of a second. A static code never touches a server, so no tool can count its scans.
We record the time, the approximate place derived from the network, the device, operating system, browser and language. We do not store IP addresses and we do not set cookies on the people who scan.
What you can learn from scan data
Daily and hourly trends show when a poster, a mailing or an event actually drives scans. The world map and the country, region and city lists show where a code travels. Device and system breakdowns tell you whether to build for iPhone or Android first.
Unique visitors are counted once per day, which separates one curious person scanning five times from five different people. Bots and link previews from chat apps are filtered out.
Comparing campaigns
Give every placement its own code, or the same link with different UTM tags, and compare up to four codes side by side. You can also connect scans to your web analytics: UTM tags on the destination link let Google Analytics or any other tool attribute visits to the printed piece.
Need to report to a client? Share a read-only stats page that shows scans, places and devices but not where the code points, or export every scan as CSV.
Scan analytics questions
We record time, approximate location from the network, device and language. We do not store IP addresses or set cookies on scanners.
No. A static code never touches our servers, so nothing can be counted. Use a dynamic code.
As long as the code exists. You can export it at any time.
Yes. The 3 editable codes on a free account include full scan statistics.
We keep no IP addresses and set no cookies on scanners. A visitor is a daily hash that cannot be linked across days.
